The annual cycling event “Shanghai Commercial Bank · Pok Oi Cycle for Millions 2023”, sponsored by Shanghai Commercial Bank and organised by Pok Oi Hospital, will return on April 16 (Sunday) at the Stonecutters’ Bridge after a three-year hiatus! As the largest cycling charity fundraising event in Hong Kong, this year it will be joined by members of the Sanrio family. Three popular characters made a surprise appearance at the event launch, along with several celebrity guests to kick off the event, encouraging citizens to ride bicycles and embrace a healthy lifestyle, while raising funds for the largest nursing home in Hong Kong, “Pok Oi Hospital Tuen Mun Lam Tei Care & Attention Home”, enhancing the importance of the occasion.

The annual Pok Oi Cycle for Millions has always been a highly anticipated event, with a total participation of over 50,000 people over the years. After a three-year hiatus, this year’s event is back with a bang, not only featuring Sanrio family members for the first time but also inviting many sports stars to join forces with the public for a charitable cause. To mark the occasion, the “Shanghai Commercial Bank · Pok Oi Cycle for Millions 2023” event was launched today at a press conference, with Dr. Chan Shou-ming, the incoming Chairman of Pok Oi Hospital’s Board of Directors, Mr. David Sek-chi Kwok, Deputy Chairman, Managing Director and Chief Executive of Shanghai Commercial Bank, “Stars with Love” Mr. Wong Kam-po, SBS, MH, and Mr. Alex Fong, “Star Riders” Ms. Ma Wing-yu and Ms. Maisy Ma, as well as special guests Bad Badtz-Maru (XO), Pompompurin, and Ahirunopekkle kicking off the event.

Dr. Chan Shou-ming, the incoming Chairman of Pok Oi Hospital’s Board of Directors delivered a speech, “Our Hospital sincerely thanks Shanghai Commercial Bank for being the title sponsor of this meaningful event for six consecutive years, promoting the development of cycling in Hong Kong and raising funds for our Hospital, as well as combining sports with charity. Richie Jen, a dedicated ambassador who has supported the Pok Oi Cycle for Millions for many years, was unable to attend the press conference because he was in mainland China at the time. He recorded a special video message to encourage people from all walks of life to actively participate: “Cycling on Stonecutters’ Bridge feels truly liberating. Please join us! The SANRIO family members will also be cycling with us this year. Join us and support Pok Oi Hospital’s charitable community activities!”
As the event’s “Stars with Love,” Mr. Wong Kam-po, also known as “God of Cycling Racing in Asia,” and the “Little Flying Fish” Mr. Alex Fong appeared together to support the event. They even participated in a friendly battle on stage with this year’s “Star Riders,” Hong Kong’s former figure skater Ms. Maisy Ma, and former track cyclist Ms. Ma Wing-yu, competing in a group bicycle game. Dr. Chan Shou-ming, the incoming Chairman of Pok Oi Hospital’s Board of Directors, and Mr. David Sek-chi Kwok, Deputy Chairman, Managing Director, and Chief Executive of Shanghai Commercial Bank, generously donated a total of HK$200,000 on the spot to be the first donation for the “Shanghai Commercial Bank · Pok Oi Cycle for Millions 2023,” starting the event off with a bang.
