  • School History and Educational Philosophy

In September 1, 1987, in the spirit of serving the community for many years, Pok Oi Hospital founded its first secondary school and named it after the late Sir Tang Ping-king, a prominent figure in the New Territories, to recognize and commemorate his contributions to society. For 35 years, the school has been committed to providing holistic education and nurturing students to become responsible and socially conscious citizens.

  • Student Quality and Academic Performance

The school is dedicated to providing an excellent English, Chinese, and Putonghua learning environment. Teachers and students work together to create a language-rich environment, for example, through English Day, English Ambassadors, Chinese and English Debating and Public Speaking Competitions, etc. Students can improve their language proficiency through extensive exposure. The English Department has newly established a Reading Café this year, providing a comfortable environment for students to create a relaxed and enjoyable English learning atmosphere.

The school emphasizes providing students with authentic and practical learning experiences to enable them to achieve goals that cannot be accomplished solely through classroom learning. Through participating in local and international competitions, social services, and field trips, students can develop their personal potential and various generic skills. All Form 1 students are required to join the Civil Aid Service Cadet Corps and participate in discipline training courses to cultivate the spirit of self-discipline and compliance and to guide students to serve the community enthusiastically.

The school attaches great importance to STEM education. The new “STEM Maker Space” completed its renovation project in the last academic year. By organizing different training, activities, and competitions, students can increase their interest in STEM education.

The school students actively participate in extracurricular activities and have achieved outstanding results in various academic, sports, dance, art, and public speaking competitions every year. They have also represented Hong Kong in different events at the national or international level and have won numerous awards, bringing honor to the school and the city. A student won the championship in the high school calligraphy category of the “Taste to Find the Origin: Yuen Long District Food Writing Competition” and the overall championship in the hard pen calligraphy category of the “Hong Kong Youth Calligraphy and Painting Competition”. The basketball team won the runner-up in the Inter-School Basketball Competition Men’s Open Group. The darts team won the championship again in the “Yuen Long District Joint School Darts Championship” held during the Yuen Long District Youth Festival, with team member winning the individual championship. The school students also won many championships, runners-up, and third places in English, Putonghua, and Cantonese public speaking competitions at the inter-school level and won the championship in the 15th Hong Kong Student Open Public Speaking Competition. The track and field team won multiple awards in this year’s Yuen Long District Inter-School Athletics Competition, including the women’s Group A 100m champion and the women’s Group B high jump champion.
